Our 32nd Annual Children & Youth Day event was held on May 21st at the Transworld location parking lot. Over 20 community-based organizations provided fun activities and resources at this year’s “Celebrate Health & Wellness” themed event, including San Joaquin County Clinics who offered free COVID-19 vaccinations.
Children and families were connected to literacy, education, health, and safety resources, all while engaging in fun. San Joaquin County Head Start won the agency’s Best Decorated Booth Contest with their Teddy Bear Health Clinic exhibitor booth. Children were given their own teddy bear and gave their bears health screenings-emphasizing the importance of play in early childhood education settings while also promoting children’s health.
Bike helmets, toothbrushes, books, and art supplies were provided to children at no charge at the free event designed to increase the awareness of community resources benefitting children and youth. Children also enjoyed face painting, bubbles, a magician, and physical activities at the event, which was sponsored this year by Health Plan of San Joaquin, Altamont Corridor Express, and First 5 San Joaquin. KWIN 99.7 FM radio station was there to keep the event lively with DJ Lucas and today’s hit music. Mascots, Ricki Roo and Dr. Ted were seen dancing and hoola-hooping with the young attendees while parents received information on the latest programs to support their families.
Mark your calendars for Children & Youth Day at Pixie Woods in Stockton, CA on May 20th, 2023.
